Neighbors United to Host Block Party

On Tuesday, August 4th, the Northeast Neighbors group will be hosting a block party on the 700 block of North Shippen. The party is part of National Night Out and welcomes neighbors to step outside of their city homes to meet each other in an effort to connect with each other and reduce crime in the city! The Northeast Neighbors group has been hosting the party for years and is proud to provide activities, food and a chance for neighbors to mingle with each other. We will have games for children, face painting, hot dogs, drinks and other foods. Emergency vehicles (police, fire, ambulance) will be on site for children to tour. There will be information about the United Way and other items of interest to neighbors.

Litter Receptacles are Here!

Plum Street Grocery, 599 1/2 Plum Street

You may have noticed that the main corridors in the northeast look a bit tidier! Through a grant request made by the City which was supported by LIVE (Lancaster Investment in a Vibrant Economy) and financed by a grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Community and Economic Development, sixteen litter receptacles are being installed throughout the Northeast Revitalization area. Additionally, three recycling receptacles have be placed beside the litter receptacles surrounding Victory Field in front of the McCaskey campus. This is to reinforce the recycling education program that the School District of Lancaster has begun in full force this fall.

The receptacles are being "adopted" by residents, property owners and small business owners, who take responsibility for regularly removing the trash. We sincerely thank these individuals for helping to keep our northeast neighborhoods clean.
